It all started on September 14, 1973 when Nas was born into the world. As the son of famed jazz musician Olu Dara, Nas' music creativity began at an early age. Nas, whose given name Nasir means "helper and protector," started showcasing his talents in the late '80s - early '90s. In 1992, he was discovered by MC Serch of the then rap group 3rd Bass and secured a record deal with Columbia Records. In 1993, history was in the making when his debut album "Illmatic" was released.
