Having spectacularly defined their style with the "Oceanborn" album, Nightwish now took things one stage further, delivering a record that - in addition to topping the charts in their native Finland - also made some serious inroads overseas. Word on the band was spreading fast, and "Wishmaster" (beating Iron Maiden to the "Album Of The Month" accolade in Germany's prestigious Rock Hard magazine) was yet another landmark outing; not only was the material consistently strong, but in "Dead Boy's Poem" it featured the track voted "Best NW Song Ever" on the official website! "Wishmaster" (2000): a band coming of age in the international spotlight.
